Heroin Addiction

Tanner a 20 year old former gang member and heroin addict talks of his struggles with addiction
Tanner graphically and courageously shares his present struggles with heroin addiction and the life of gangs, violence and the streets. A courageous introspective detail of his childhood traumas, his narcotic and heroin addiction, the violence, criminal activities of gangs and how he’s making strong efforts to deal with his past and present and break the drug and gang life.
Tanner is a part of the majority in his age group who are epidemically turning to hard drugs like heroin where death by overdose is the leading cause exceeding all other forms of death combined in the 16-25 year old range. The age group where over 90% of all addiction begin.
Most importantly isn’t that he uses heroin but how and why he turned to drugs in the first place. The heroin epidemic and overdoses are a major plague to our society and Tanner’s generation. As you can see from Tanner’s interview, everybody can and is affected by this drug epidemic either via family members, friends or a victim to attack and robbery by an addict or gangs.
We cannot incarcerate or legislate our way out of this epidemic as we have seen from the past demonizing addicts has only created more addiction.
