Rehabilitation

Lovely Owls The Rehabilitation of Hansel and Grethal
Hansel & Grethal are two orphaned owlets that were sent to me after there nest was destroyed by a blasting operation in a quarry. They were still very small and was taken to a vet in East Londen who raised them. He unfortunately had to choose between letting them die or feeding them by hand and imprinting them. Three weeks later he sent them to me and I introduced them to my blind owl “Tokkelosh” and “Uiltjie”. They adopted them immediately and the difficult task of un-imprinting them began. The two just wanted to be inside the house and sometimes begged like puppies at the door to be let in. Their favourite spot was my bed in our bedroom where they loved sleeping on the cushions. Later on 3 more orphans of roughly the same age were sent to me and they joined the family. With the help of Tokkelosh and Uiltjie they soon learned to be real owls again and grew up to become two magnificent adult owls that could fend for themselves. Once they were fully grown, Uiltjie chased them away from the farm to begin there own lives somewhere else in their own territory. This video show some of the highlights during there rehabilitation. Please give these cute little owlets a thumbs up if you like them. Visit our website to read more about my owls. http://www.thecaringowl.co.za
