Pt 2 Of My Past Addiction To Opiates
This part of the video is a lot more personal, but I need to share this.
As I said, I would explain what suboxone & subutex is and does.
Subutex- the active ingredient is buprenorphine, which itself is a partial opioid agonist. Meaning the opioid symptoms from Buprenorphine are far less than other FULL opioid agonists, such as- heroin, methadone, morphine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, codeine & other pain killers.
Subutex has been shown to help in suppressing opioid withdrawal symptoms, decrease illicit opioid cravings and use, and can help overcoming opioid dependence.
Suboxone- The ingredients are buprenorphine and naloxone. Naloxone blocks the effects of drugs like methadone, heroin ect. This is added to prevent people from injecting suboxone and improper use of the drug. Injecting naloxone can cause severe withdrawal symptoms. Suboxone has been shown to help in suppressing opioid withdrawal symptoms, decrease illicit opioid cravings and use, and can help overcoming opioid dependence.
So the difference between the two, is that Suboxone contains naloxone. As said above, doctors choose to prescribe suboxone before subutex because the naloxone completely blocks ANY effects of other pain killers, and a less potential of abuse. Subutex is prescribed to those who have a reaction to the naloxone (like myself) or to pregnant women.
Subutex can be taken with other narcotics, without withdrawal, unlike suboxone where you most likely would be thrown into withdrawal.
Like I said in my videos, that’s why I tried suboxone first, but had a severe reaction to the naloxone. I have to say that taking Subutex has saved my life. There is a very big stigma to both, but especially Subutex. But the way I see it- you either WANT sobriety or you don’t, and I want it.
