RISK OF ALCOHOL ABUSE MAY INCREASE AFTER BARIATRIC SURGERY
Bariatric surgery has been shown to be one of the most effective treatments for severe obesity. It can lower the risk of many health problems including cardiovascular disease and diabetes. It also may increase the risk of alcohol abuse and dependence. A new study examines this risk before and after the procedure. Catherine Dolf explains in this week’s JAMA Report.
