Lakeland Village Structure Fire
A family was displaced and two people were injured as a result of a house fire in the unincorporated area of Lake Elsinore known as Lakeland Village on Wednesday, 3/19/14.
According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the fire was first reported at 7:56 pm in the 33200 block of Tetterington Street. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, but the house was badly damaged.
During the incident, a woman who appeared to live in the home attempted several times to push her way past emergency workers and enter the home. She became very agitated and endured a lenghty struggle with Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies before being taken into custody. According to the Sheriff’s Department, she was transported to a local hospital to undergo a mental health evaluation.
During this confrontation, another man at the scene (who had earlier claimed to be the homeowner) began to attack me as I shot video of the incident, shoving me, throwing punches (none of which landed) and trying to grab my camera equipment. A woman who was with him was spashing water on me from a water bottle at the same time.
Sheriff’s Deputies quickly restrained the man and he was arrested for obstructing peace officers in the performance of their duties. I declined to press any charges, as I was uninjured and there were no damages to any of my equipment. The man was later identified in a press release as 23 year old Irbin Franco of Wildomar.
